Southwest Bend Neighborhood Association Board Minutes
December 7, 2004 - Romaine Village Meeting Hall
Board President, Mike Lovely, called the meeting to order at 7:15 PM. Carl Metler, Ronda Metler, Dianne Crampton, Joe Barry, Rod Cathcart and Mike Lovely were present. Linda Spring was absent.
Guest Daryl Loveland from Old Farm District was present.
Joe reported that there is $2,519.78 in the treasury. Dianne turned in an additional $75 and two bills for $116 in advertising and $105 for holly. Ronda donated the Christmas tree. Dianne will resend the bill for $105 and reported there were other incidental costs to be submitted later.
The Mrs. Santa Party was debriefed. Next year we will mail invitations to our members, put out donation jars, secure a coffee vender, include more music and staging.
The date for the next Mrs. Santa Party was decided to be December 10, 2005. Dianne will talk with venders to determine whether we should divide the shopping from the entertainment and hold the entertainment on a weeknight.
Rod Cathcart volunteered to call Judy Clinton about the refinement plan committee.
Mike reported that at C&O, the City presented two specific reasons for why neighborhood associations are formed. The first is to improve communications between citizens and the City. The second is to develop leadership for Civic responsibility. The Chairs, however, will meet to determine whether the associations agree that the roles of neighborhood associations should be limited to these two functions. The meeting will be held on December 16.
Ronda Metler volunteered to attend the CBDG Meeting from 4-6 pm Thursday December 9 in the City Hall Boardroom. Dianne motioned and Ronda seconded not to pursue finding grant money for a Homestead sewer project. 5 voted to not pursue funding and Carl Metler opposed.
The Board decided to focus its energies on the Refinement Planning process.
Mike reported that Cascade View motor home park is only half full and there is a petition to rezone the area RS and to put in stick homes. There Board is not opposed to this.
Mike attended the Better Bend Lecture Series. He indicated that Developers, members of the City’s Community Development Department, and land use attorneys attended the Brooks Recourses sponsored event.
Mike reported that Sign Pro has sandwich signs available for $125 and others are $20 each. There is a nonprofit discount of 15% available.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Dianne Crampton, Board Secretary
