I. Call to Order: Chair, Leslie Conley called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM

II. Public Input:

Lori Eichelberger spoke about concerns about the coffee hut going in on Merchant Way. She was concerned about increased traffic, the appearance of the non-permanent trailer structure, and the effect on property values.  She urged the Board to advise residents who were concerned about this matter to write to Heidi Kennedy, the Senior Project Planner handing the application (06-311) by May 25, 2006.  Jim Swarm tabled a motion have a letter on ABNA letterhead mailed to the Hearings Officer, to address concerns about the temporary structure, with the letter to be signed by all Board Members.  Mary Cope seconded the motion and it passed unopposed.  It was also recommended to advise ABNA members via email with specifics about how to communicate their concerns to the City.

Betty Gientke addressed the Board regarding a fundraising proposal involving “Artists on Awbrey” with a percentage of sales donated to ABNA.  There was a discussion about potential venues, and partnerships with local businesses, with an event date in the fall.  Jim Swarm raised concerns about keeping controlled records and dispensing funds without appropriate oversight.  He requested verification of ABNA’s non profit status, as that would be an incentive to donors.  Leslie Conley asked that Jim and Ian discuss the status with Liz O’Connell.   Michelle Shooks proposed a motion authorizing Betty to proceed as the Chair of the fundraiser.  Ian Wotherspoon seconded the motion and it passed unopposed.

III.               Community Project Updates:

Mary Cope reported on the SOLV cleanup on Saturday, May 13th.  Three people signed up and collected eight bags of trash and one recycle bag.  She reminded the Board that it is OK for people to pick up trash while walking.

Leslie Conley advised that there is a “noxious weed pull” on June 10th and she will disperse information by email as it becomes available.

IV.              Financial Report:

Brooks Resources Corp. contributed $500 for the meeting at Sylvan Park.  The City of Bend contributed $300 for signs to promote the event.

Michelle Shooks proposed a motion to authorize opening a non-interest bearing checking account at CFB on Greenwood Avenue with Ian Wotherspoon (Treasurer) and Jim Swarm (Secretary) as authorized signers.  All checks to require two signatures with the account to be binding on the organization in accordance with its by-laws.  Ian Wotherspoon seconded the motion and it passed unopposed.

V.                 Agenda for June 4th Neighborhood Meeting:

The agenda for this meeting will be informal, and will include:

-         introduction of Board Members

-         accomplishments to date

-         invitation to join ABNA

Leslie Conley will inquire whether any City Council Members would like to attend the meeting.

BFD will have a Fire Truck, and possibly an Ambulance at the event.  Also, the wildfire group will be there.

Jim Swarm shared a vision of having representatives, like Tom Stump, from each neighborhood within ABNA’s boundaries bringing their specific issues to ABNA so they can have a voice with the City.
