ABNA Meeting
January 22, 2006, Sunday, 4pm

Attendees: Leslie Conley, Jim Swarm, Ron Fisher, Jennifer Salari, Liz O’Connell
Minutes take by Liz O’Connell

Leslie Conley called the meeting to order.

The minutes from the January 8th meeting were accepted.

The following items were discussed:

Membership
Jennifer reported that she had compared the membership applications with the assessors list and with the e-mail list. She found several names that were not on the assessors list.  Although the assessors list is what will be used for notifying the neighborhood for the next general meeting it was agreed that the e-mail list would be used in notifying members of the general meeting too, so some would be notified twice.

How to get more members?---several ideas were suggested

  • Continue to visit to Home Owners Associations
  • Door to Door by Board members
  • Set up table/Kiosk at mailboxes, perhaps have children sell lemonade simultaneously
  • Volunteer at City's Winterfest Neighborhood Booth

ACTION ITEMS agreed upon by unanimous consent:

Designated APRIL as membership month. We’ll all go out and sign up new members

Volunteers sign up for the Winter Fest Feb 10, 11, 12.  Contact Leslie to sign up for an hour or 2 at the Neighborhood Association Booth.

Next GENERAL MEMBERSHIP Meeting date: MAY 7th. Location: Awbrey Village Park. To attract people to the meeting we could have a Silent Auction with Art from Neighborhood Artists.

Survey
We went through the survey and discussed changes suggested via e-mail and initiated some other changes.  Ron will be sending the changes out to all of us.

ACTION ITEMS: Agreed upon by unanimous consent.
1. Leslie will notify e-mail list of items discussed at this meeting and that we will be e-mailing a survey soon.
2. Instead of including a way to volunteer on the survey, Leslie with include a list of volunteer skills needed in an e-mail.

Garage Sale
Ron brought a checklist of how to conduct a garage sale. This is a future activity for fund raising.

501c3, non-profit status
Liz reports that she has sent David Atkin’s, a non-profit attorney, the working paperwork for our non-profit status.  He will help us finish the paperwork, charging us by the hour.  David estimated it may take as long as 6 months to get status from IRS.  It will cost about $1000 in application fees and David’s work.  Jim, Leslie and Liz have committed $’s toward this.  If you can, please contribute.
It was unanimously agreed that non-profit status was the way to proceed.

NEXT MEETING:
February 26th  at 4pm.
